The price limit for granting Turkish citizenship to foreigners in return for the purchase of real estate will change from 250 thousand dollars to 400 thousand dollars starting from 13 June.
Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre, Department of Foreign Affairs, sent a letter to regional directorates and population directorates and announced that citizenship transactions will be made over the limit of 250 thousand dollars until June 12 at 24:00.
In the letter, it was noted that applications made through Webtapu or ALO 181 until 12.06.2022 24:00 will be accepted, and it was noted that if any of the documents that determine the value (currency purchase document, valuation report, and receipt) are missing, the application will be finalized by informing the person concerned.
Applications received before the specified date but canceled due to missing documents such as foreign currency purchase certificate, valuation report, and if it is determined that the document was issued before 13 June, the transaction will be made based on the value of 250 thousand dollars.
The following example will clarify it more:
“The foreign national AA has made annotation/commitment application for citizenship on 09.06.2022, but in case the application is closed because the receipt value was not found to be worth 250.000 USD in the examination carried out by the relevant directorate on 10.06.2022, an additional receipt dated 10.06.2022 should be submitted by the foreign national AA. It is possible to renew the application on 15.06.2022 and continue the process for over 250,000 USD.
Suppose the citizenship commitment has been taken but the 250,000 USD value sought at the stage of the conformity certificate has not been met, or the commitment has been canceled due to the deficiencies in the documents (currency purchase document, valuation report, and receipt) that are the basis for the value. In that case, the value of 400 thousand lira will be taken as the basis for the commitments to be made after 13 June.
